Who We Are

Tumaini Deliverance And Empowerment (TDE) is a community-based organization located in the heart of Kasarani, Nairobi County, Kenya. Our name, Tumaini, means “hope” in Swahili—and that’s exactly what we strive to give. We exist to empower vulnerable individuals and families by providing safe shelter, life skills, education, economic support, and agricultural knowledge.

Founded by compassionate community members who saw the pressing needs around them, TDE has grown into a trusted center of transformation, providing a beacon of hope for those society has often overlooked.

Our Mission

To empower and uplift vulnerable families, women, and youth through comprehensive support programs that promote dignity, self-reliance, education, and sustainable development.

A thriving and self-sufficient community where every individual has access to shelter, education, healthcare, economic opportunity, and the power to shape their own future.

Vulnerable Families

We provide a safe haven for street children and families who have been abandoned, displaced, or lack shelter. At TDE, they find more than just refuge—they find a home. We offer: Shelter in a secure and loving environment. Nutritious meals, clean clothing, and essential supplies. Emotional and psychological support to help them rebuild their lives. Our holistic approach also protects these vulnerable groups from: Drug abuse and substance dependency, Early and unplanned pregnancies, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) including HIV & AIDS, Malnutrition and neglect. Through counseling, mentorship, and education, we equip these individuals to regain control over their lives and become contributing members of society.

Empowering Women

Women are the backbone of every strong community. TDE is committed to uplifting women by nurturing independence, confidence, and economic self-reliance. We do this through: Training in small business creation and management Promoting a culture of saving and financial literacy Encouraging women-led agriculture and agri-business Educating on menstrual hygiene management and access to sanitary products Advocacy and access to birth control and family planning Supporting higher education opportunities Promoting leadership training and community participation Our women’s programs are designed to ensure that every woman is empowered to lead her family and inspire her community.

Education

At TDE, we believe education is the foundation of empowerment. We walk with every child from the moment they arrive, offering: Kindergarten, Primary, and Secondary education Support to pursue higher education Placement and sponsorship in TVET and tertiary institutions for hands-on training in: Plumbing, Electrical Installation, Masonry, Tailoring, Catering. Beyond academics, we engage children in sports and physical activities to promote healthy development, teamwork, and discipline. Every child at TDE is nurtured to become a responsible and empowered adult.

Farming

Seasonal crop education for improved harvests. Training in modern techniques like greenhouse farming, irrigation, and pest control. Promotion of organic practices for healthy produce and environmental care Animal husbandry skills with focus on dairy goats and cows. Support in growing high-yield, high-demand crops for better incomes. Environmental protection through tree planting and soil conservation. With the right knowledge and tools, we’re cultivating a self-reliant, sustainable farming community.
